I think we're living parallel lives. I also have to explain to my wife how i can listen to yet ANOTHER version of Eyes, or Scarlet>Fire, or Dew, etc.

But it's true--the reason we love this band so much is that there are new subtleties to discover in each and every show. No, they're not a technically polished or proficient band, and yes, I have to admit to my wife that Donna is not exactly channeling Ella Fitzgerald in her warblings, but no band has ever packed more creativity, spontaneous energy or pure inspiration into live performance.

As for the Eyes of 10/29 it is my all time favorite. It starts as you say w/mellow jazz overtones, a la Wes Montgomery but by the 2nd instrumental jam leading into the final verse it is a rip roaring Jerry fest of mad guitar riffs that evoke at points Spanish Jams and casey-Jones like never fails to astonish me. The rest of the band rides the crest of the wave and joins in the splash down. I wish everyone would listen to it.

(yeah, and that Colgate one next night aint bad either)

Well, if we are indeed living parallel lives, it must mean that, according to our favorite abrasive antagonist, you, like me, are also a raging homosexual bent on the ingesting of as much pole as is physically possible. Welcome to the club.

But, to get back on topic, the 10/29 Minglewood is crazy good. Jerry is not just on fire, he is burning with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns.

the abrasive antagonist has as much effect on me as mosquitoes have on the windshield of a car doing 90 on the Interstate.

enjoy the music, and the rest is white noise.

(...and how 'bout Jerry belting out that Might as Well? :-)
